The Venue by Brix 27 - Martinsburg, WV Position Summary The Venue by Brix 27 is seeking a dependable, organized, and passionate Catering Chef to join our growing events team. This position is responsible for preparing and executing high-quality food for weddings, corporate functions, private parties, and special events serving anywhere from 20 to 200 guests. The Catering Chef plays a key role in ensuring every event menu is executed consistently, on time, and to Brix 27 standards. This individual will be responsible for food preparation, recipe adherence, kitchen organization, event production, and coordinating food delivery and setup for scheduled events. Key ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation & Execution Prepare and execute menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards. Produce food for weddings, corporate events, private parties, fundraisers, and other catered functions. Ensure all food is prepared safely, consistently, and at the highest quality standards. Maintain proper portion control and food cost awareness. Assist in menu preparation and event production planning. Event Production Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and event timelines. Prepare food according to guest counts and event specifications. Coordinate production schedules to ensure food is completed and delivered on time. Package and transport food safely for off-site events when necessary. Assist with event setup and breakdown as needed. Kitchen Operations Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen. Ensure proper food storage, labeling, rotation, and sanitation procedures. Monitor inventory levels and communicate ordering needs. Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries. Follow all local health department regulations and food safety standards. Teamwork & Communication Work closely with the Executive Chef, Event Managers, and Venue leadership team. Communicate production timelines and potential issues proactively. Support restaurant operations during slower event periods when needed. Assist in training kitchen staff on event recipes and procedures. Qualifications Previous catering, banquet, or high-volume kitchen experience preferred. Ability to execute events serving up to 200 guests. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods. Valid driver's license preferred for food transport and event support. Weekend and evening availability required. Physical Requirements Frequently stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout shifts. Ability to lift and carry equipment, food products, and catering supplies up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in varying temperatures, including walk-in coolers and hot kitchen environments. Success in This Role Looks Like Events are executed accurately and on schedule. Food quality and presentation consistently meet Brix 27 standards. Kitchens remain clean, organized, and inspection-ready. Recipes and portions are followed consistently. Event clients and guests receive an exceptional dining experience.
