The Family Services position will provide supervision and oversight of residents and carry out events in the program schedule. The Family Services position will assist residents to understand and follow Acres of Hope policies and guidelines.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Assist in the overall support of residents while contributing to a healthy atmosphere, emphasizing "grace with guidance" and "acceptance with accountability." Assist with book studies and groups as needed. Be available for relational ministry using established tools and biblical principles and assist residents in the change process. Develop deep levels of trust and confidentiality with women who have experienced difficult and sometimes traumatic life circumstances to coach them in life skills successfully. Train and continuously improve knowledge and skills to handle crises effectively and avert crises from developing. Maintain documentation as necessary (offsite passes, incident reports, etc.) Enter in ZoHo clear, objective summaries using first-hand knowledge of essential incidents and/or conversations and how you assisted residents with coaching and guidance. Reinforce Acres of Hope policies and guidelines. Ensure residents attend all appropriate activities, classes, and appointments. Participate in special events, including holiday celebrations, outings, meetings, and training sessions. Transport families to off-site appointments and church using company-owned vehicles. Answer phones, retrieve and deliver messages, and answer questions. Oversee resident medication compliance. Administer urine-sample drug/alcohol testing for residents. Prepare a meal and/or deliver to residents on quarantine. Set up and clean cottages for new residents and assist with intakes. Help organize and clean the children's program, main house and resident cottages. Maintain vehicles, which includes fueling the vehicles, tire pressure, log sheets, adding fluids, etc. Write and send/deliver thank you cards and birthday cards. Assist with watching and caring for children. Ensure cleanliness and security of the facilities and conduct periodic rounds for safety and security purposes. Be available to report to work to cover staff illness or other emergency staffing needs. Respond to emergencies that may occur, including medical emergencies, physical property emergencies such as gas, electrical, or sewer failures, weather emergencies, fire emergencies, and similar events that require immediate response and potential evacuation of the property. Be able to work independently and, as solo staff for long periods, have complete responsibility for and the ability to perform all required tasks. Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned. ABILITIES
Must be able to relate to the residents in a grace-based manner with a compassion that communicates an understanding that God has a purpose for each individual, coupled with the ability to be firm on expectations (grace/guidance balanced with acceptance/accountability). Must have experience and/or understanding of the homeless population. Be able to deal effectively with angry or hostile residents and/or guests. High school diploma or GED; at least two years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Basic computer skills:
internet, email, word processing. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Proven ability to effectively manage multiple deadlines and priorities. Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to work in a changing environment, as well as the ability to work independently. Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. Ability to analyze and solve problems. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments. Ability to follow through on assigned tasks to completion. Ability to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds. Ability to respond to emergencies, including traversing and accessing unpaved surfaces and stairs, squatting, lifting an injured child of up to 35 pounds, manipulating equipment such as emergency gas shut-off, and other physical mobility that emergencies may require. Hold a valid driver's license and be able to operate a standard passenger vehicle. Ability to properly install a car seat into a vehicle and safely place/strap a child into the car seat.

Telephone and voicemail. Computer. Copier and related office equipment. Security monitoring equipment. Occasional use of various maintenance equipment/tools (lawn mower, power washer, leaf blower, vacuum, carpet cleaner, hammer, screwdriver or similar equipment/tools). Automobile, minivan.
