Job Description
Join a Team Where Cannabis, Compassion, and Education Come Together A Therapeutic Alternative is one of Sacramento's longest-operating cannabis dispensaries, proudly serving our community since 2009. We are more than a cannabis retailer—we are a mission-driven Social Purpose Corporation committed to improving the lives of our members through compassionate service, cannabis education, responsible access, and a holistic approach to health and wellness. Our mission is to provide a professional, welcoming, and holistic environment where cannabis consumers can access high-quality products while receiving knowledgeable, individualized guidance from a compassionate and highly trained team. We believe in the therapeutic potential of cannabis and in empowering people with the education they need to make informed decisions about their health and wellness. Our vision extends beyond the walls of our dispensary. We strive to help shape a responsible, professional, and sustainable cannabis industry through education, advocacy, community engagement, and leadership at the local, state, and federal levels. We are committed to reducing the stigma surrounding cannabis, advancing public understanding of its therapeutic applications, supporting small and diverse businesses, and setting a high standard for professionalism and integrity within the cannabis industry. Our core values are Health, Happiness, Education, and Industry Leadership. These values guide how we care for our members, support our employees, interact with our community, and operate our business. Education is especially important to our culture. Our team participates in ongoing training covering cannabis science, cannabinoids and terpenes, the endocannabinoid system, administration methods and dosing, common health conditions, patient privacy, customer care, product knowledge, and cannabis laws and regulatory compliance. We want our employees to understand not only what we offer, but also why we offer it and how to communicate that information responsibly. About the Shift Leader Role We are seeking a dependable, knowledgeable, compassionate, and motivated Shift Leader who shares our commitment to exceptional service and can help lead our team by example. The Shift Leader serves as an important connection between management and frontline staff and helps ensure that each shift reflects A Therapeutic Alternative's standards for professionalism, compliance, education, teamwork, and compassionate customer care. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys helping others succeed, communicates effectively, remains calm and solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment, and understands that leadership means setting the standard through their own actions. As part of our Management Training Program , you will begin by training in the All-Around Floor Staff role to develop a comprehensive understanding of our daily operations, customer service standards, compliance requirements, and team responsibilities. Once you have demonstrated proficiency in these areas and management is confident in your readiness to take on additional leadership responsibilities, you will advance to training for the Shift Lead position. Please note that advancement to the Shift Lead role requires increased scheduling flexibility and availability to support the operational and leadership needs of the business. At A Therapeutic Alternative, our goal is not simply to complete transactions. We strive to create an experience in which every person who walks through our doors feels welcomed, respected, educated, and cared for. Our Shift Leaders play an essential role in making that mission a reality every day. ______________________________________________________________________________________ All-Around Floor Staff Job Description (2026)
