Job Description
Receives and directs visitors to Medical Center to appropriate locations throughout complex. Responds to inquiries and requests regarding Hurley Medical Center patients, staff, services, and activities. Performs other related duties. Participates in all quality assessment and continuous quality improvement activities. Performs all job duties and responsibilities in a courteous and customer-focused manner according to the Hurley Family Standards of Behavior. Works under direction of Director, Marketing Support Services or designee. Greets and directs visitors to Hurley Medical Center in courteous, helpful, and respectful manner. Distributes visitor passes according to established visiting policies, and in compliance with patient confidentiality policies. Answers telephone and responds to inquiries in courteous, helpful, and respectful manner. Accesses computer through a terminal to obtain necessary patient information. Provides or facilitates provision of miscellaneous services to patients, visitors, and employees as necessary. Coordinates with and assists delivery people as needed. Observes lobby area for situations that may require special attention or assistance. Coordinates with Public Safety Officer assigned to lobby regarding daily work schedule and need for support. Monitors wheelchair availability in lobby area in cooperation with Public Safety Officers. Exercises limited independent judgment regarding minor problems that arise at the service desk. Maintains Service Desk area to ensure efficiency of operation and desirable appearance. High School diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of common office practices and customer service methods. Knowledge of events occurring at Medical Center. Ability to handle difficult situations with diplomacy, composure and tact. Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner. Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing. Ability to obtain and communicate thorough knowledge of Hurley Medical Center facilities, services, and programs. Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to access computer. Ability to promote good hospital/community relations. Ability to comply with departmental performance standards. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, other Medical Center staff, volunteers, physicians, patients and public.
