Job Description

Job Overview The Outside Guard is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the library park, surrounding grounds, visitors, staff, and property. The Guard will conduct regular patrols, maintain a visible security presence, identify potential safety or security concerns, respond to incidents, and provide professional assistance to visitors. Responsibilities Conduct regular foot patrols of the library park, grounds, entrances, walkways, and parking areas. Enforce park and library rules and address inappropriate or unauthorized activity. Maintain a visible presence to deter theft, vandalism, trespassing, and disorderly conduct. Monitor the property for suspicious activity, hazards, damage, and other security concerns. Respond appropriately to disturbances, emergencies, and requests for assistance. Contact emergency services or library personnel when necessary. Assist visitors with directions, general questions, and information about park rules. Check exterior areas, gates, fencing, lighting, and other property for damage or safety concerns. Document patrols, incidents, and significant observations. Maintain professional communication with library staff, supervisors, visitors, and emergency personnel. Qualifications Previous security, public safety, military, law enforcement, or related experience preferred. Strong observation, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to remain alert and professional while working independently. Ability to walk and stand for extended periods and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to respond calmly and appropriately to emergencies and security incidents. CPR, AED, and First Aid certification preferred. The ideal candidate is dependable, alert, professional, and committed to maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for the library park and community.
Pay:
$16.25 per hour Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
