Our boutique practice emphasizes strong patient relationships, outstanding service, and a collaborative team environment. We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and proactive Medical Assistant who enjoys building meaningful connections with patients and contributing to a high-quality healthcare experience. Position Summary The Medical Assistant serves as an integral member of our clinical team and is a trusted point of contact for our concierge patients. You will work closely with our full time office manager and part time nurse to support Dr May in all aspects of delivering compassionate, comprehensive healthcare. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to thrive and problem-solve independently in a small office. Responsibilities Welcome patients in the front office providing a warm and friendly reception Room patients, obtain vital signs, update medical histories and medications, and document chief complaints Prepare patients for examinations and assist physicians with minor clinical procedures Perform EKGs, ABIs, phlebotomy, injections, specimen collection, and other clinical tasks within your scope of practice Support front office operations, including scheduling, faxing and answering phone calls Coordinate and follow through on requests for medical records through hospitals, outpatient clinics, labs, radiology centers or other locations Coordinate laboratory testing, imaging, referrals, and specialty appointments for patients Manage prescription refill requests and prior authorizations - prefer experience with CoverMyMeds Document completely and accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) Communicate with patients regarding test results, follow-up care, blood pressure monitoring, chronic care management programs, and physician recommendations as directed - MUST be comfortable CALLING and speaking with patients Maintain cleanliness of office, exam rooms, medical supply closets, and clinical equipment Adhere to infection control, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety standards Take initiative to improve access or processes in the office Always maintain a positive and helpful attitude and offer to assist with any and all care coordination for concierge members, even in the face of our fragmented and frustrating larger healthcare environment Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Medical Assistant certification preferred (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) Minimum of 2 years of experience in a physician office, preferably Internal Medicine or Cardiology Experience with phlebotomy, EKG, home EKG monitoring, ABI is helpful but not required Proficiency with EMR and other patient communication systems MUST be detail-oriented with excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills Strong interpersonal and communication abilities Professional appearance and a positive, team-oriented attitude Ability to maintain confidentiality and deliver compassionate patient care MUST be proactive, take initiative, and be an independent problem solver Knowledge of insurance prior authorizations and referrals Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus What We Offer Competitive compensation commensurate with experience Paid time off and holidays 401K with match Stable weekday schedule with no evenings or weekends Supportive, close-knit team environment Opportunity to build long-term relationships with patients and make a meaningful impact on their care NO health insurance is provided If you are an experienced Medical Assistant who values personalized medicine, exceptional patient service, and working in a collaborative practice, we would love to hear from you.
