Job Description

Position Title:
Cook Assistant
  • Meals on Wheels Part Time
  • 28 hours per week, Monday
  • Friday Position Title of Supervisor:
    Kitchen Manager Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent and have at least one year of experience as a cook.
  • Must be 18 years old or older.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Reliable and dependable.
  • Knowledgeable of sanitation requirements.
  • Relate well to seniors and be sensitive to their dietary needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Must require a Food Workers Card and Serv Safe.
  • Pass a background check and fingerprints.
  • Experience working with restricted diets. Summary of Job Duties
  • W ork under the supervision of the Kitchen Manager.
  • Prep work, meal preparation, and cooking while adhering to industry food safety standards.
  • Assist Kitchen Manager in preparing meals for the NSCoA Senior Center congregate meal program, NSCoA's home-delivered meal program, Adult Day Cares, assisted living facilities, and the Fairbanks Native Association Elders Program.
  • Responsible for shopping for food supplies and bringing back detailed receipts from Costco and Walmart.
  • Modify meals for seniors with special dietary needs.
  • Help portion meals for Meals on Wheels.
  • Uphold Sanitation and assist with cleaning all components of the kitchen work.
  • Record and keep track of food temp.
  • Interaction with seniors daily.
  • Other duties as described.
ABOUT FAIRBANKS SENIOR CENTER
The Fairbanks Senior Center, also known as the North Star Council on Aging, is a premier nonprofit organization operating in the Interior of Alaska. As one of the few senior centers in the region, it serves Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors in the Interior. Our Fairbanks Senior Center programs employ staff to provide the best assistance to the senior community, serving Fairbanks and the surrounding areas. Our services provide training and outreach, and we correspond with other outside agencies for assistance. It takes a village to help assist a community of seniors in need.
