Join Our Team! Do you enjoy preparing meals and making a difference in the lives of children? Cheaha Regional Head Start/Early Head Start is looking for a dependable, caring, and hardworking Cook to join our team! As a Cook , you will help support the health, growth, and development of young children by preparing nutritious meals and snacks in a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. What You'll Do Prepare nutritious meals and snacks following USDA and Head Start guidelines. Follow approved menus and accommodate food allergies and special dietary needs. Maintain accurate meal counts, food records, and inventory. Order, receive, and properly store food and kitchen supplies. Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and ready for inspections. Monitor and document refrigerator and freezer temperatures. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and food-handling requirements. Work closely with the Nutrition Manager and Center Director. Help create a positive and supportive environment for children and families. Perform other duties as assigned. What We're Looking ForRequired High School Diploma or GED ServSafe Certification Minimum of 3 years of related food service experience Must be at least 21 years old Valid Driver's License Good driving record Current automobile liability insurance and Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), when required for job duties Preferred Associate Degree in Nutrition, Culinary Arts, or a related field Experience working in child nutrition, schools, Head Start, or a similar setting You'll Be a Great Fit If You Are Dependable and punctual Organized and detail-oriented Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen Knowledgeable about food safety and sanitation Able to work independently and as part of a team Comfortable using basic computer programs such as Word and Excel Caring and respectful toward children and families Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Lift up to 50 pounds Stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods Work in a busy kitchen environment Why Join Us?
