We are hiring for a cook/prep person Maki & Sushi is looking for a reliable, hardworking, and team-oriented Cook / Prep Cook to join our kitchen team in Arcadia. This position will help with daily food preparation, cooking, maintaining a clean kitchen, and supporting the sushi and restaurant staff during service. Responsibilities Prepare vegetables, sauces, rice, proteins, and other ingredients for daily service Assist with cooking and food preparation according to restaurant recipes and standards Portion and organize ingredients for service Assist sushi chefs and kitchen staff as needed Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation Wash, cut, prep, and properly store ingredients Follow food-safety, sanitation, and temperature-control procedures Properly label and rotate food using FIFO practices Help receive, organize, and store food deliveries Keep kitchen equipment and work areas clean Assist with opening and closing kitchen duties Work efficiently during busy lunch and dinner services Communicate effectively with other kitchen and restaurant staff Perform other kitchen duties as assigned

Required:

Previous restaurant or kitchen experience preferred Basic food-preparation and cooking skills Ability to follow recipes and instructions Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a busy environment Reliable and punctual Able to work well as part of a team Good communication skills Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace Ability to stand for extended periods and lift approximately 25-50 lbs when needed Must follow all applicable food-safety and workplace requirements

Preferred:

Experience working in a Japanese, sushi, or Asian restaurant Experience preparing sushi ingredients Experience preparing sauces, vegetables, proteins, and rice Food Handler Card Experience with commercial kitchen equipment

Pay:

$17.00 - $18.00 per hour Expected hours: 35.0 per week
