Job Description

Compensation:
Starting at $25.00 per hour, depending on experience.
Position Summary:
Monkey Cat Restaurant & Bar is seeking an experienced Lead Line Cook to join our kitchen team. This position works directly under the Head Chef and serves as the leader of the line during service. The ideal candidate is organized, calm under pressure, passionate about food quality, and committed to leading by example. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for maintaining food quality, ticket times, cleanliness, and teamwork during every shift.
Responsibilities:
Lead and organize the kitchen line during lunch and dinner service. Execute menu items with consistency, speed, and attention to detail. Assist with daily prep and station setup. Train and mentor line cooks. Ensure recipes, portion sizes, and plating standards are followed. Communicate effectively with the Head Chef and front-of-house staff. Monitor ticket times and maintain efficient kitchen flow. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation. Follow all health department food safety and sanitation standards. Help manage inventory, food rotation (FIFO), and waste reduction. Assist with receiving and properly storing deliveries. Step into any station as needed to support the team.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of line cook experience in a full-service restaurant. Previous lead or supervisory kitchen experience preferred. Strong knowledge of sauté, grill, pantry, and expo stations. Excellent knife skills and food preparation techniques. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Strong work ethic and reliable attendance. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
