Description of Position:
Do you have experience as a Cook or Food Prep Worker? Our client is looking for a reliable and compassionate Cooks to support their community meals program at locations in Berkeley. This position is responsible for preparing and serving daily meals while maintaining food safety and sanitation standards. The ideal candidate is flexible, organized, and comfortable working independently in a community focused environment.Job Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook daily meals Assist with menu preparation and meal planning Follow food safety and sanitation procedures Wash dishes and clean kitchen and food storage areas Assist with inventory, including ordering, receiving, and organizing food and supplies Track and report basic program statistics Prepare and serve community meals Set up and break down meal service areas Coordinate with volunteers and program staff Assist with light janitorial and kitchen duties Drive a personal or agency vehicle to deliver meals to various locations as needed Attend required meetings and training Complete timesheets accurately and on time Perform other duties as assignedDescription of Company:
You will be supporting a non-profit organization in Berkeley, California.Experience Required:
At least 1 year of cooking or food preparation experience in a restaurant, group, or community setting Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures California Food Handler's Card or ServSafe certification Strong communication and interpersonal skills Flexible, positive, and willing to help wherever needed Ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision Professional attitude and appearance Basic computer skills; Microsoft Word and Excel experience is a plus Commitment to providing respectful and compassionate service to community members Previous experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness is highly preferredPhysical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Frequent use of hands and arms for cooking, cleaning, and food preparation Ability to occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds Ability to climb stairs as neededSimilar Positions:
