The primary responsibility of the Cook is to prepare and provide high quality, attractive food in accordance with the menus, diet specifications, sanitary practices and resident preferences. To prepare and serve food in a manner that reflects quality of service and facility philosophy. Responsibilities Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.) Cook food using various utensils or grillers Check food while cooking to stir or turn Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen Ensure all food and other items are stored properly Qualifications Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a restaurant setting Strong knowledge of food handling and sanitation practices Familiarity with meal preparation techniques and knife skills Experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is a plus Ability to plan menus and cater to various dietary needs Ability to work as a team Subject to a background check
