JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Culinary Experience is responsible for oversight of the culinary team and has primary responsibility for the operation of the community's culinary experience. The responsibilities for this position include: budgetary compliance, quality assurance in taste, presentation and overall experience, menu management, department oversight, monitoring of service of meals to residents, food preparation, providing consultation concerning the activities of the culinary department in order to provide service as per professional and legal standards, staffing, scheduling and job assignments.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS A.
Promotes the success of others. B. Provides assessment of the culinary experience in order to outline the resident satisfaction, community needs, and establish priorities. C. Directly supervises the culinary department employees D. Must be competent in the preparation, cooking, presenting, and serving of high quality and therapeutic diet meals for residents. E. Ensures quality of food items ordered and served. F. Recruits, hires, orients, evaluates, and trains employees which includes: on-the-job training, on going in service education, adherence to policies and procedures, as well as applicable regulations. G. Carries out the approved menu cycle, making the proper adjustments and communication when necessary. H. Orders supplies, maintains an appropriate inventory, and ensures proper storage of foods and kitchen supplies. I. Maintains standards of safety, sanitation, and cleanliness in the food services department. J. Designs, develops, and implements food service policies and procedures. Provides preventive maintenance programs and budgetary guidelines for the department. K. Ensures that proper labor cost controls are maintained. L. Reviews inspection and consultant reports. Recommends intervention and follow-up when appropriate. M. Evaluates dining facilities and equipment needs and provides capital and small equipment recommendations. N. Responsible for ensuring quality assurance. Routinely conducts audits to ensure accuracy, quality, and consistency. O. Works in accordance with safety guidelines established by the community with emphasis on the use of proper body mechanics and safe work practices. P. Set an example for staff to follow. Q. Is knowledgeable of operation and appropriately maintains Emergency Food Service Plan for community.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent G.E.D. Food Service Management Degree or Commensurate work experience. Serv Safe certification required. Must have CDM Certification
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE A
minimum of three years work experience supervising food service operations. Experience with high volume scratch cooking preferred.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Ability to understand and work harmoniously with residents, staff and healthcare professionals. Ability to maintain high professional and ethical standards. Computer proficiency is strongly recommended.
