This role is essential in ensuring the high-quality food our guests expect is prepared with consistency, speed, and care. As a Cook, you will be preparing ingredients, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, and cooking. You'll will run the kitchen team to make sure everything runs smoothly—whether it's a packed Saturday night or prepping for a catering order. We're looking for someone to work roughly 40 hours a week. Responsibilities Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, labeling, and storing per safety standards Assist with prep for BBQ meats, sauces, sides, and house-made specialties Follow recipes, portion guidelines, and food presentation standards Help maintain par levels and restock stations throughout the shift Ensure food is prepped ahead of time and cooking processes are optimized Communicate clearly with cooks and front-of-house staff to support service flow Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment Operate kitchen equipment safely and follow food safety guidelines Assist with inventory, labeling, and rotating stock (FIFO method) Complete daily/weekly prep checklists and tasks as assigned by management Take direction well and remain focused during busy shifts Tips available Qualifications Prior experience in as a cook or kitchen role preferred Strong knife skills and understanding of food safety standards Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods Ability to multitask and stay organized in a high-volume kitchen Reliable transportation and punctuality are a must Must be 18 years or older Willingness to grow within the company—opportunities available Join the Poppy's Team If you're passionate about good food, good people, and making a difference behind the scenes, we'd love to meet you.
