Helping People. Changing Lives. CAPSLO is looking for a Cook to help provide nutritious meals for our childcare programs, ensuring that the food service operation runs smoothly and effectively. This is more than just a job; it's an opportunity to contribute to the well-being of individuals and families in our community. What you bring to the table: A combination of two years of experience in institutional or commercial food services and/or culinary science education. Experience cooking for large groups is preferred. Has dependable, insured transportation and valid California Driver's License (mileage to be reimbursed) and acceptable driving record. A DMV printout and proof of insurance will be required.
As a Cook you will:
Assist the Food Production Supervisor in preparing breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to Child and Adult Care Food Program guidelines. Help create, test, and standardize recipes that meet nutritional requirements. Pack and deliver food to multiple centers, maintaining high standards for food quality and safety. Manage inventory by receiving and storing food service supplies correctly. Keep detailed records of deliveries, equipment maintenance, and financials. Maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen environment and ensure thorough cleanup after meal service. For part of shift, transport food to childcare centers in agency vehicles and communicate with staff about deliveries. Participate in workshops and career development activities to enhance your skills.
