Job Description
Job Overview The VA is seeking reliable Cook I staff to support daily meal preparation for licensed care residents. This entry-level culinary role is ideal for candidates with basic experience in institutional cooking. Required Experience At least 1 year of experience assisting a cook in preparing and cooking a varied menu Trade school substitution: Full-time cook training may substitute for experience (1 month of school = 2 months of experience) Key Responsibilities Prepare meals for licensed care residents Serve meals in the cafeteria as needed Ensure food quality, including taste, color, and appearance Portion food accurately according to meal orders Follow menus for both regular and therapeutic diets Clean utensils, equipment, and work areas Follow posted cleaning schedules Report equipment repair or maintenance needs Receive, store, and inventory food supplies Participate in staff meetings and in-service training Comply with all local, state, and federal food-safety regulations Perform additional duties as assigned Please call or text Kemberly at (562)380-1185
