Job Description
Job Summary School located in the foothills of Ojai California is seeking a Lead Cook with desire to become a Team Lead or Manager. We serve three home cooked meals, seven days a week. The Lead Cok will report to the Director of Dining Services and assist in the food preparation and supervision of employees. The qualified candidate will be passionate about providing quality food and services to our small and wonderful community of students and staff. Adaptable to menu changes and able to meet meal schedules. Ensures safe food preparations and proper sanitation methods are used and maintains a safe kitchen/pantry area.
Job Responsibilities:
Daily co-creation of home-style nutritional meals in the boundaries of their school's menu and budget, as well as state and federal requirements. Prepares food, cooks and bakes meals, prepares modified diets as needed, and distributes food following appropriate health and safety guidelines and polices. Maintain inventory of food and supplies and orders more when needed. Assist team with cleaning the dining area before and after meals. Ability to lead, train, provide clear and concise communication to employees. Is a team player! Available to work weekends and holidays.Job Requirements:
Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals. An understanding of all current state and local regulations. Has a current serve safe certification. High school diploma, GED, or a suitable alternative. 4+ years of kitchen production experience, or culinary school graduate and we are willing to teach and train the trade of cooking for a school. Excellent understanding of food preparation fundamentals. Ability to follow recipes. Sound understanding of food allergies and foodborne illnesses. Basic mathematical skills. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Food Safe Manager certification.Pay:
$23.75 - $27.50 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per weekBenefits:
