Our Prep Cooks play an important role in keeping the kitchen organized, stocked, and ready for service. We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, keeps a clean workspace, works well with others, and understands that great food starts with great preparation. Kitchen experience is helpful, but attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn are just as important to us. What You'll Do As a Prep Cook, you'll help prepare our kitchen for successful service by: Preparing ingredients according to recipes and Shindigs standards Washing, cutting, chopping, portioning, and preparing produce, meats, sauces, and other ingredients Preparing batches of sauces, dressings, sides, and other menu components Labeling, dating, rotating, and properly storing food Maintaining proper portion sizes and recipe consistency Keeping prep areas, equipment, and storage areas clean and organized Restocking line stations and communicating with cooks about product needs Following food safety, sanitation, and temperature-control procedures Helping receive and properly put away deliveries when needed Reducing unnecessary food waste and using products responsibly Assisting Line Cooks, Dishwashers, and other kitchen team members when needed Completing assigned opening, closing, and cleaning duties Communicating shortages, quality concerns, or equipment problems to management Working with a sense of urgency while maintaining quality and safety What We're Looking For The right person for this position: Shows up on time and ready to work Has a positive attitude Works well as part of a team Can follow recipes and instructions Takes pride in cleanliness and organization Can stay productive without constant supervision Handles feedback professionally Is willing to learn and improve Can work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen Understands that every position in the kitchen contributes to the guest experience Previous restaurant or kitchen experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person. Schedule Applicants should have availability that may include: Weekdays Evenings Weekends Holidays Prep and/or opening shifts Consistent and reliable availability is important for this position. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Stand and work for extended periods Bend, reach, twist, and perform repetitive kitchen tasks Safely use knives and commercial kitchen equipment Work around hot and cold temperatures Lift and carry restaurant supplies and food products as required by the position What Matters at Shindigs We believe skills can be taught.
