We are currently seeking a dependable and experienced Part-Time Cook to join our Dietary Services team. Position Summary The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals while maintaining compliance with food safety, sanitation, and dietary regulations. This role also assists with daily kitchen operations and may provide support and leadership during the absence of the Dietary Supervisor. Key Responsibilities Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and therapeutic diet requirements. Prepare large quantities of food while maintaining consistency, quality, and presentation. Accurately prepare modified and texture-altered diets, including pureed foods. Follow portion control guidelines and ensure meals are attractively presented. Monitor and document food temperatures to maintain food safety standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, equipment, and food preparation areas. Assist with meal service during breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Follow all federal, state, local, and facility food safety and sanitation guidelines. Complete assigned cleaning and sanitation tasks. Communicate resident dietary concerns and food service issues to department leadership. Assist with training and orientation of dietary staff as needed. Work collaboratively with nursing, therapy, and other departments to support excellent resident care. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. One (1) year of cooking experience in a healthcare, skilled nursing, hospital, long-term care, or similar setting preferred. Current California Food Handler Card required. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures. Ability to prepare therapeutic and modified diets accurately. Ability to work independently and follow established recipes and menus. Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills. Reliable, dependable, and committed to providing excellent service.
