The Cook plays a vital role in the daily operations of Golden Roots Kitchen, ensuring that all menu items are prepared, packaged, and executed with consistency, quality, and efficiency. This position requires strong technical cooking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The Cook is responsible for preparing meals according to our high-quality standards, while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen. Key Responsibilities Meal Preparation & Execution Follow recipes to accurately prepare all menu items, including roasting, baking, grilling, blending, and mixing Create salad dressings, emulsified sauces, and other components of GRK dishes Knife Skills Confidently handle a chef's knife for ingredient prep, cutting items precisely and accurately for the dish Food Packaging & Portioning Assist with properly packaging meals, ensuring accurate portions and visually pleasing presentation Kitchen Sanitation & Cleaning Maintain a clean and organized workspace throughout the day, including dishwashing, equipment maintenance, and general kitchen cleaning at the end of each shift Health & Safety Compliance Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper uniform usage and safe handling of ingredients and equipment Teamwork & Communication Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations and efficiency Workplace Safety Follow all safety protocols, including proper lifting techniques, handling of hot surfaces, and use of sharp tools Skills & Qualifications Food Handlers' Certificate 3+ years experience in a commercial kitchen Basic knowledge of roasting, baking, grilling, and sauce-making techniques Ability to handle kitchen equipment safely, including knives, ovens, mixers, and grills Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in a fast-paced environment Must be punctual, reliable, and maintain a positive attitude Work Environment & Schedule Must wear the proper uniform and maintain a clean, organized workstation Work requires standing, lifting, and working in a warm kitchen environment Shifts include a combination of food prep, packaging, and cleaning tasks Performance Expectations Prepare and package consistent, high-quality meals in a timely manner Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment Follow safety and food handling procedures at all times Contribute to a positive and efficient team dynamic Schedule Thursday through Monday 8am-4pm Compensation & Benefits $25-$27/hr Health care 401(k) with matching Paid lunch break with meal provided Weekly membership meal credit to take home Golden Roots Golden Roots Kitchen is an equal opportunity employer.
