Daytime and early evening shifts with no late nights Job Summary We are seeking a dependable and energetic Cook to join the culinary team at a senior living community in Pueblo West. This position offers a more predictable food-service schedule with no late nights. In this hands-on role, you will prepare high-quality meals while following established standards for taste, presentation, food safety, and resident dietary needs. The ideal candidate takes pride in preparing food from scratch, stays organized, communicates well, and enjoys creating a positive dining experience for older adults. Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, standardized recipes, and production needs Ensure consistency in food quality, portion sizes, taste, and presentation Follow instructions for modified diets, food allergies, texture-modified foods, and other resident dietary requirements Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently Follow proper food-handling, storage, labeling, cooling, reheating, and sanitation procedures Complete temperature logs, production records, cleaning schedules, and other required documentation Maintain clean and organized workstations, equipment, storage areas, and kitchen spaces Assist with receiving deliveries, rotating inventory, and stocking supplies Communicate with the supervisor and dining team regarding meal counts, product shortages, and resident needs Work collaboratively with the dining team to ensure meals are served accurately and on time Assist with special events and resident dining activities as needed Support cleaning, dishwashing, and other kitchen responsibilities when needed Qualifications Previous cooking experience in senior living, healthcare, restaurant, catering, or another food-service environment is preferred Experience preparing meals from scratch and following standardized recipes Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food-handling practices Modified-diet or healthcare dining experience is a plus, but training can be provided Ability to read menus, recipes, food labels, production sheets, and dietary instructions Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills Dependable, punctual, and able to work with limited supervision Willingness to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends and holidays ServSafe certification is preferred or must be obtained within the required timeframe Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and safely lift up to 40 pounds Ability to work around commercial kitchen equipment and in areas with varying temperatures We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, supports their teammates, and understands the importance of providing consistent, dependable service to residents.
