SAGE Dining Services® is seeking an experienced Cook at a boarding school in South Kent, Connecticut. SAGE seeks individuals passionate about food and community to create healthy, exciting restaurant-quality meals from scratch. SAGE offers weekly pay, comprehensive benefits, continuous training, and room to grow your food service career. Available overtime for catering events with advance notice. Our mission is to create exceptional dining experiences that delight the senses, inspire minds and foster community. A cook's job involves preparing, cooking, and presenting food items according to recipes and established standards, ensuring food safety and quality, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. They work with various cooking methods, including grilling, frying, and baking, and may also be involved in food preparation, such as chopping vegetables or marinating meats This is a boarding school, open seven days a week. We serve three meals a day, so we start at 6:00 AM and finish at approximately 8 PM. But of course you wouldn't work those hours!! Schedule will be 5:45 AM

Our school follows the school's particular calendar, including holidays, with summers off. We offer a more life-friendly schedule. Very rarely special events will occur and you will be required to work, but advance notice is given.

What you'll do: Produce assigned hot and cold foods in a timely and accurate manner. Provide meals that consistently exceed our guests' expectations. Ensure that all food is appropriately displayed and visually appealing. Interact cheerfully with SAGE guests and Team Members and provide service with a smile. Prepare assigned menu items in strict accordance with SAGE recipes. Clean all work areas, equipment, and customer service areas on an ongoing basis. Use proper food handling, storage, and sanitation techniques always. (HACCP). Adhere to SAGE's safety and allergy prevention policies. Assist in training new Cooks and culinary Team Members. Adapt to additional responsibilities as assigned by management. Endure exposure to extreme temperatures; intense heat and freezing cold. What you'll need: Experience with cooking strongly preferred. Ability to set up a serving/action station. Ability to understand and execute recipes and instructions in detail. Experience in customer service strongly preferred. Ability to interact with community and team in a cheerful and friendly manner. ServSafe® certification preferred, but not required.
