Sous Chef/Chef Job Description Position Summary Summary Grill cooks are responsible for preparing and grilling foods to meet specific customer preferences, and they are often required to handle tasks in other areas of the kitchen in addition to their grill stations. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Keep track of meal prep components to ensure timely completion of the final dishes 2. Chopping and preparing vegetables and other nonmeat ingredients. 3. Stocking ingredients and kitchen supplies. 4. Checking perishable ingredients and food items for freshness. 5. Taking daily measures to prevent food cross contamination. 6. In charge of grilling and preparation of all grilled food on the menu. 7. Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers. 8. Maintaining clean and sanitized workstations Requirements 1. Previous experience working as a Grill cook 2. Must be able to work in conjunction with head chefs, line cooks and wait staff. 3. Accuracy and speed, in coordinating the overall preparation and serving of the complete dishes. 4. Must be able to stand for long period of time while preparing food. 5. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., endure hot temperatures, work in a fast-paced environment and independently of others. 6. Sustain minor burns, cuts, and bruises on the job. Skills and Abilities 1. Has knowledge of standard cooking, baking, and grilling techniques. 2. Be a team player, have organizational skills, and work under pressure. 3. Must be able to resolve issues quickly. 4. Must be able to learn new recipes and new procedures. 5. Manage food inventory, place new orders, and confirm delivery. 6. Monitors personal performance and makes improvements where needed. 7. Sefl motivated/ self-starter. 8. Stay up to date on changes in state and country sanitation requirements. Education and Experience 1. High School Diploma, culinary diploma, or any culinary related diploma. 2. Basic knowledge of food preparation. 3. An understanding of the workings of the kitchen and restaurant is necessary. 4. The ability to speak English/Spanish. 5. Ability to read tickets and recipes.
