Job Description
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Cook Assistant to join our school food service team. This position assists with the daily preparation, cooking, serving, and cleanup of meals while helping ensure students receive quality meals in a clean, safe, and organized environment. Job Duties & Responsibilities Assist the Cook with preparing and cooking breakfast and lunch meals according to menus and recipes. Prepare ingredients by washing, cutting, portioning, measuring, and organizing food items. Assist with setting up food for meal service and ensuring meals are ready on schedule. Portion and serve meals to students and staff as needed. Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and food safety procedures at all times. Maintain appropriate food temperatures and assist with completing required temperature logs and production records. Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, equipment, utensils, and workstations throughout the day. Assist with washing dishes, pots, pans, trays, and other kitchen equipment. Receive, organize, and properly store food and supplies. Help maintain an organized and sanitary refrigerator, freezer, dry storage area, and kitchen. Assist with inventory and notify the Cook or supervisor when supplies are running low. Follow school and company policies regarding food safety, cleanliness, and student interactions. Work cooperatively with other kitchen and school staff to ensure efficient meal service. Complete other kitchen and food-service duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous kitchen, restaurant, cafeteria, or food-service experience is preferred but not required. Must be dependable and able to report to work on time for the 6:30 AM start time . Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive kitchen tasks. Ability to lift and carry food, supplies, and kitchen equipment as needed. Must be comfortable working around commercial kitchen equipment. Must have a positive attitude and be able to work well as part of a team. Must follow all food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene requirements.
