Job Description
Overview Stephens County, Georgia is seeking a dependable and hardworking Kitchen Cook to join our team. The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving meals, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, and supporting the daily operations of the program. What You'll Do Prepare, package, and serve meals and lunches according to established guidelines. Perform daily kitchen activities in compliance with Department of Health rules and regulations. Monitor food and supply inventory and notify the supervisor when additional supplies are needed. Operate kitchen equipment, including stoves, dishwashers, and meat slicers, while following all applicable safety procedures. Assist with maintaining a clean and organized senior center. Provide general assistance and direction to senior center volunteers. Follow established recipes, procedures, and instructions to ensure meals are prepared properly and safely. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned. What We're Looking For High school diploma or equivalent required. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Basic math skills, including counting, recording quantities, and basic measuring. Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, volunteers, and program participants. Ability to work independently while following established procedures. Dependable, organized, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment and tools. Physical & Work Requirements This position involves primarily light physical work, with occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of objects and materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds. The position may require extended periods of standing and working in a kitchen environment. Employees may also be exposed to heat, odors, wet conditions, and other typical kitchen or food-service environments. Why Work for Stephens County?
