Waukee, IA Reports to: Head Chef & Kitchen manager
Pay:
Starting at $18/hr
Employment:
Full-time The Line Cook will prepare high-quality food according to recipes and restaurant standards while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen. The Line Cook works in coordination with other line cooks to ensure food moves down each station until it is ready to be passed to the food runners and/or servers and served to guests.

Working in an open-kitchen, Line Cooks have the opportunity to showcase culinary skills and bring the kitchen to life, giving guests a unique behind-the-scenes experience while they enjoy their meal. Pay Structure Hourly Responsibilities Prepare and cook menu items accurately and efficiently - Label, date, and rotate food according to proper food-storage procedures (FIFO) Accurately plate and assemble food items according to Restaurant standards and guest requests Follow recipes, portion standards, and food-safety procedures Maintain proper food temperatures and storage practices Chop vegetables, butcher meat and prepare sauces as needed Set up and stock the assigned stations before service Monitor ingredient levels and communicate when supplies need to be replenished Provide detailed instructions and direction for the success of other Line Cooks and back of house members Handle food, dishes, trays, glasses, silverware, and equipment safely and appropriately Maintain a clean and safe work area free from debris, clutter, garbage, spills, etc. Maintain knowledge of the restaurant's menu to include ingredients, common allergens, portion sizes, and preparation methods Follow all food safety, sanitation, and restaurant procedures at all times Maintain a professional, friendly, respectful, and courteous demeanor with guests and coworkers Support the overall team by maintaining a positive and cooperative work environment Assist with other duties as assigned to ensure efficient operations of the restaurant Qualifications Previous restaurant, hospitality, or food-service experience required Food Handler certification preferred but not required Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with guests and coworkers Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time Ability to bend, reach, lift, and move throughout the restaurant as necessary to perform job duties Ability to lift at least 50 pounds of products and goods Have reliable transportation to and from work Must-Haves 1+ year of line cook experience in a full-service kitchen Comfortable with high-heat wok cooking or willing to learn quickly Solid knife skills and ability to read a recipe and hit a plating standard Can stand, lift 50 lbs, and work in a hot kitchen for 8-10 hour shifts Available nights, weekends, and holidays Nice-to-Haves Asian cuisine experience (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, etc.) Wok station, sushi, or ramen experience Opening-team experience Working knowledge of Asian pantry ingredients and sauces What We Offer Starting at $18/hr after paid training, with raises based on performance and station mastery Shift meals A kitchen that runs on respect, not yelling How to Apply Submit resume and application via Indeed.
