Lux is looking for a Prep Cook for the hours of 7:30am - 2:30pm, Monday - Saturday. Responsibilities Prepare vegetables, meats, sauces, dressings, and other ingredients according to recipes and kitchen specifications Wash, peel, chop, slice, portion, and properly store food items Label, date, and rotate food according to proper food-storage procedures (FIFO) Follow recipes, portion standards and food-safety guidelines Monitor ingredient levels and communicate when supplies need to be replenished Handle food, dishes, trays, glasses, silverware, and equipment safely and appropriately Maintain a clean and safe work area free from debris, clutter, garbage, spills, etc. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and restaurant procedures at all times Maintain a professional, friendly, respectful, and courteous demeanor with guests and coworkers Support the overall team by maintaining a positive and cooperative work environment Assist with other duties as assigned to ensure efficient operations of the restaurant Qualifications Previous restaurant experience required Ability to communicate effectively and professionally Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time Ability to lift at least 50 pounds of products and goods Have reliable transportation to and from work Nice-to-Haves Asian cuisine experience (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, etc.) Working knowledge of Asian pantry ingredients and sauces Lux Restaurant is an equal opportunity employer.
