Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Dietary Cook/Tech to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food preparation, kitchen operations, and working with geriatric or nursing home patients. This role requires a commitment to food safety, sanitation, and adhering to dietary requirements while providing nourishing meals that promote health and well-being. The Dietary Cook/Tech will play a vital role in ensuring that residents receive nutritious, well-prepared meals in a safe and welcoming environment. Responsibilities Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, dietary guidelines, and residents' specific nutritional needs. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, and food handling tools. Follow proper food handling procedures to ensure safety, sanitation, and compliance with health regulations. Assist with food production tasks such as portioning, plating, and serving meals in a timely manner. Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area through regular sanitation, cleaning of utensils, surfaces, and equipment. Adhere to workplace safety protocols including safe lifting practices and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Support dietary department functions washing dishes, bussing tables, cleaning the dining area. Manage time effectively to meet meal schedules while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation. Requirements Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or similar healthcare environments is highly desirable. Demonstrated experience in food production, food service, or culinary roles within the food industry. Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Strong understanding of food safety standards including sanitation practices and proper handling procedures. Basic math skills for portion control, recipe adjustments, and inventory management. Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Physical ability for lifting and manual handling tasks required during meal prep and cleaning routines. Certification in CPR and knowledge of workplace safety protocols are advantageous but not mandatory. Pay:
$13.00 - $15.00 per hour
