The Senior Cook will prepare high-quality meals and special/therapeutic diets while helping coordinate daily kitchen activities, support meal service, guide kitchen staff, and maintain food safety and sanitation standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare entrees, vegetables, breads, and other menu items. Prepare special, modified, and therapeutic diets according to menu requirements. Ensure proper food quality, flavor, temperature, and food-handling standards. Prepare meals for special events and catered functions. Coordinate daily kitchen activities and assist with staff coverage. Delegate food preparation and cleaning duties to kitchen staff. Assist with training new employees on safety and kitchen procedures. Support tray-line service and ensure special-diet requirements are followed. Assist with menu planning, food purchasing, inventory, receiving, labeling, and stock rotation. Maintain sanitation, food safety, and production standards.
Required/Preferred Experience:
Previous cook experience in a commercial, healthcare, senior living, long-term care, school, hospitality, or institutional kitchen . Experience preparing special, modified, or therapeutic diets is strongly preferred. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, safe food temperatures, and proper food handling. Ability to coordinate or lead kitchen staff and assist with training. Strong teamwork, communication, organization, and time-management skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment and perform the physical requirements of the position.
Pay:
$20.00 - $23.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
