Hourly, Non-Exempt Position Summary A Cook at Scramblers is the heart of our restaurant's operation. Cooks hold one of the most respected and essential roles in the company—delivering the high-quality food that our guests come for. Scramblers cooks are highly trained professionals who consistently execute premium breakfast and lunch dishes and contribute to an efficient, clean, and dynamic kitchen environment. This role requires mastery of cooking techniques, strict adherence to recipes, strong teamwork, and a commitment to sanitation and professionalism. Key Responsibilities Food Preparation & Presentation Prepare all menu items according to Scramblers' recipes, standards, and presentation guidelines. Maintain exceptional consistency in food quality, appearance, and portioning. Operate assigned cook line stations (Egg Cook, Seller, or both depending on volume). Execute tickets efficiently, maintaining excellent ticket times even during peak hours. Support multi-station cooking when the line splits for high-volume service. Prep Duties Perform daily prep using the prep list provided by management. Complete morning and afternoon prep tasks as needed. Follow the recipe book precisely to ensure product consistency. Assist with prep tasks on the cook line, prep line, or server line as required. Properly store, cover, and date all products. Sanitation & Maintenance Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary cooking environment at all times. Follow all local Health Department regulations and food safety guidelines. Perform daily cleaning responsibilities, including: Cleaning pans and cook line surfaces Restocking dishes, utensils, food products, cold trays, and steam wells Cleaning grills and equipment using proper methods Perform weekly cleaning tasks such as cleaning walls, shelves, reach-ins, hood filters, and walk-in coolers. Change fryer oil as required and maintain kitchen equipment in functional condition. Professionalism & Food Safety Wear required uniforms and proper hair restraints at all times. Maintain a clean personal appearance and proper storage of belongings. Wash hands frequently and change gloves according to food safety standards. Handle all ready-to-eat foods using gloves and sanitary procedures. Communicate professionally with front-of-house staff and provide accurate order time estimates. Maintain a calm, respectful, and team-oriented attitude during service. Refrain from eating on the cook line; use the designated break area. Teamwork & Cross-Training Support other back-of-house roles including prep and dishwashing as needed. Assist dish room personnel, especially during closing shifts. Work collaboratively with servers, bussers, and managers to maintain smooth kitchen operations. Exhibit thorough knowledge of kitchen layout, product storage locations, and station functions. Qualifications & Skills 2-4 years prior cooking experience preferred, but not required with strong aptitude and willingness to learn. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen. Strong multitasking and time-management abilities. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Knowledge of food safety standards or willingness to learn. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods. Commitment to consistency, cleanliness, and quality. Must be available to work Saturdays and Sundays. Weekend availability is a MUST. Training Requirements All Scramblers cooks undergo extensive training to master: Product preparation and presentation techniques All cook line stations and functions Prep procedures and recipe book usage Sanitation and maintenance standards Proper use of equipment and cooking tools Communication and timing strategies for efficient service Training is continuous, and cooks are expected to demonstrate competency before working independently on the line. Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
