Every dish on our menu and cup of coffee we serve is created with care. Our name, Anam Cara, means "soul friend" in Gaelic. And we consider anyone who walks through our doors our soul friends, whether we're meeting for the first time, or have known each other for years. Our space is meant to foster great conversation, laughter, and time spent with friends—old and new. Role Summary We opened our doors in 2020. As our business continues to increase, we are looking for a reliable cook to support our back-of-house kitchen function. This person will be responsible for the timely preparation of food items for our restaurant customers in accordance with company standards and guidelines. A successful candidate will be skilled in moving around the kitchen and with multi-tasking. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is ideal. The goal is to help preserve and enhance our reputation so we can continue to expand our clientele. Responsibilities Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.) Cook food in various utensils and appliances Check food while cooking for doneness Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen Ensure all food and other items are stored properly Check quality of ingredients Monitor and stock items when there are shortages Maintain a clean kitchen, including: washing, drying, and putting away dishes, as well as emptying trash receptacles Requirements and Competencies Ability to follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals Some previous experience as a cook is required Experience with using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware Ability to follow all sanitation procedures Ability to work in a team Excellent communication skills Ability to read and speak English Reliable transportation Ability to show up for assigned shifts, and on time Physical Demands This role requires the ability to be on feet for long periods of time, as well as sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling .
