Job Description

Shelbyville Manor is seeking a qualified full-time Head Cook for our beautiful retirement community. Primary Responsibilities:
1. Monitor staff preparation of meals and snacks to assure that seasonal menus, spreadsheets, standardized recipes, mechanically altered diets and menu preference sheets are followed. 2. Monitor preparation off all meals and snacks to assure that all meals are nutritious, palatable, eye appealing and served on time. 3. Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures according to facility policies and procedures and local, state and federal regulations. 4. Monitor inventory and order groceries and supplies as needed. 5. Assist in managing Meal Tray Ticket process by updating and printing tickets for meals. 6. Monitor portion control during meal preparation and services. 7. Monitor proper puree process using volume method and cool down procedures. 8. Monitor completion of cleaning schedule in kitchen, satellite pantry and dining rooms. 9. Assist with staff schedule, managing call-offs and filling in for call-off positions. 10. Assist with staff OJT trainings. 11. Assist with completing resident Nutrition History Questionnaires upon admission. 12. Provide excellent customer service to all residents, staff and visitors. 13. Maintain a professional attitude by showing respect and being a positive productive member of the Dining Services team. 14. Perform other specific job duties as assigned by the Food Service Supervisor.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School diploma or G.E.D.
Experience:
Two-year experience in food service setting.
