Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dietary Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food service, food preparation, and dietary assistance within assisted living, nursing home, or hospital environments. As a Dietary Cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring residents and patients receive nutritious, well-prepared meals while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and customer service. Your expertise in culinary practices and food handling will contribute to creating a comfortable and supportive dining experience for all. Duties Prepare and serve meals according to dietary guidelines, ensuring nutritional quality and presentation standards are met. Assist with food production and meal preparation, including cooking, plating, and portioning to meet specific dietary needs. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas, adhering strictly to food safety regulations and sanitation protocols. Support the dietary department by bussing tables, cleaning serving areas, and managing food handling procedures responsibly. Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to accommodate special diets and dietary restrictions for residents or patients. Manage time effectively to ensure timely meal service while maintaining high-quality food standards. Handle food with care, practicing proper food safety techniques to prevent contamination or spoilage. Contribute to a positive team environment by assisting colleagues with food service tasks and fostering respectful communication. Qualifications Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly desirable. Demonstrated knowledge of food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures in a healthcare or similar setting. Experience with meal preparation, cooking, serving, and bussing within a dietary or food service environment. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Excellent customer service skills with a compassionate approach toward residents or patients' needs. Familiarity with dietary aide responsibilities, including supporting dietetic plans and special meal requirements.
