Job Description

Experienced Senior Line Cook (10 years experience) Confidential Saugus, MA Job Details Part-time $26.71 - $30.00 an hour 12 hours ago Qualifications English Full Job Description We are seeking an experienced Senior Line Cook with a minimum of 10 years of professional kitchen experience. This position is intended for a highly skilled, dependable cook who can work independently, manage multiple orders and stations efficiently, and maintain composure during high-volume service. The ideal candidate requires minimal supervision, understands kitchen flow, communicates clearly, and takes ownership of their station and responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Independently manage and execute orders during regular service with minimal to no supervision or assistance. Work efficiently with one kitchen assistant during busy weekend service while providing clear direction and maintaining an organized workflow. Accurately read, understand, prioritize, and execute kitchen tickets in the proper sequence. Prepare multiple orders simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, consistency, presentation, and proper cooking temperatures. Anticipate what needs to be prepared next rather than waiting for constant instruction. Maintain awareness of ticket times and communicate immediately when an order may be delayed. Coordinate the timing of different components so complete orders are ready together. Maintain composure and professionalism during rushes and high-volume periods. Provide clear instructions and direction to kitchen assistants when necessary. Follow recipes, portion standards, plating guidelines, and established kitchen procedures consistently. Complete opening, prep, service, cleaning, and closing responsibilities as assigned. Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked workstation throughout the shift. Follow proper food handling, sanitation, allergen awareness, cross-contamination prevention, and food safety procedures. Monitor ingredient levels and communicate low inventory or prep needs before they affect service. Minimize food waste through proper preparation, portioning, storage, and rotation. Assist other stations when necessary while continuing to manage primary responsibilities. Communicate professionally with kitchen staff, front-of-house staff, and management. Take responsibility for mistakes, correct them promptly, and communicate issues rather than allowing them to affect service. Qualifications Minimum 10 years of professional cooking/kitchen experience preferred. English proficiency is a must Strong experience working on a professional line in a fast-paced kitchen. Able to work independently with minimal supervision and assistance. Strong command of kitchen workflow and ability to give clear direction when working with an assistant. Excellent ticket-reading and order-management skills. Strong multitasking, organization, and time-management abilities. Able to prioritize several orders and cooking tasks simultaneously. Comfortable handling high-volume and high-pressure service while remaining calm and focused. Strong understanding of food preparation, cooking techniques, portion control, and food safety. Dependable, punctual, accountable, and consistent. Able to accept feedback and follow established recipes and procedures. Team-oriented while also capable of taking ownership of the line. What We Expect From a Senior Line Cook This is not an entry-level cooking position. A Senior Line Cook should be able to come into a properly prepared kitchen and run the line confidently without requiring constant direction from management. On regular, non-busy service days, the Senior Line Cook should be capable of handling the majority of line responsibilities independently with minimal assistance. During high-volume weekend service, the Senior Line Cook may work with a kitchen assistant and should be capable of directing that assistant effectively while maintaining control of tickets, timing, quality, and kitchen flow. We are looking for someone who sees what needs to be done, stays organized, communicates clearly, and remains composed even when several tickets arrive at once. Ideal Candidate The right person is experienced enough to lead through skill, organization, communication, and example. They understand that speed is important, but accuracy, consistency, cleanliness, food safety, and teamwork cannot be sacrificed during a rush. Above all, we are looking for a professional cook who can be trusted to take ownership of the line and deliver consistent food and service every shift.
