Line Cook Black Rock Steakhouse - Grand Reopening Black Rock Steakhouse is preparing to reopen, and we are building a dependable culinary team committed to exceptional food and a clean, professional kitchen. We are seeking experienced and motivated Line Cooks who take pride in food quality, consistency, presentation, sanitation, and personal professionalism. Position Summary The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and presenting menu items according to Black Rock Steakhouse recipes, portion standards, and quality expectations. The ideal candidate works efficiently under pressure, maintains an exceptionally clean station, and understands that every plate represents the restaurant. Key Responsibilities Prepare, cook, and plate menu items accurately and consistently. Follow established recipes, portion sizes, cooking temperatures, and presentation standards. Inspect ingredients for freshness, quality, and proper storage. Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked workstation throughout each shift. Follow all food safety, sanitation, handwashing, and cross-contamination prevention procedures. Properly label, date, rotate, store, and discard food according to restaurant and ServSafe standards. Clean and sanitize cooking equipment, utensils, preparation surfaces, and surrounding work areas. Communicate effectively with kitchen and general management, servers, and other kitchen team members. Complete opening, closing, preparation, and cleaning assignments. Minimize waste and use ingredients and supplies responsibly. Immediately report food-quality, equipment, safety, or sanitation concerns to management. Assist other stations and team members when needed. Line Cooks are expected to:
Arrive for every shift clean, well-groomed, and ready to work. Wear a clean uniform and required nonslip footwear. Maintain appropriate personal hygiene and food-safe grooming practices. Keep hands and fingernails clean and comply with all handwashing requirements. Follow restaurant policies regarding hair restraints, facial hair, jewelry, and other food-safety considerations. Maintain a neat and professional appearance throughout the shift. Keep personal belongings, food, beverages, and mobile devices out of food-preparation areas. Treat coworkers and guests with professionalism and respect. Reasonable accommodations will be considered in accordance with applicable law, provided that food safety requirements can be met. Qualifications Previous line-cook, grill-cook, or comparable kitchen experience preferred. Steakhouse, high-volume, sauté, fryer, or grill experience is a plus. Working knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and safe food-handling practices. Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and plating specifications. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Dependable attendance and reliable transportation. Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively as part of a team. Ability to remain organized and productive during busy service periods. Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. ServSafe Food Handler certification preferred or willingness to obtain one. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and move throughout the scheduled shift. Ability to bend, reach, lift, and safely carry kitchen supplies and equipment. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with reasonable accommodation when applicable. Ability to work safely around hot surfaces, open flames, sharp utensils, steam, and commercial kitchen equipment.
