Opportunities to pick up additional hours when staff are out sick, on vacation, or otherwise unavailable. Position Summary Coastal Landing is seeking a dependable and experienced Cook to join our Dining Services team. The Cook is responsible for preparing quality, nutritious, and appealing meals for our independent-living residents while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment. This position includes both night cook and prep cook responsibilities . The ideal candidate enjoys cooking, takes pride in the quality and presentation of their food, and understands the importance of providing a positive dining experience for our residents. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Prepare meals according to established menus, recipes, and production guidelines. Prepare and cook meals for scheduled dining services while ensuring food is ready and served on time. Work as the Night Cook on Friday and Sunday, overseeing meal preparation and kitchen operations for the evening meal service. Work as the Prep Cook on Monday, preparing ingredients and food items for upcoming meal services. Prepare and portion food according to established serving sizes and menu requirements. Assist with the preparation of soups, salads, vegetables, entrées, sandwiches, desserts, and other menu items. Ensure food is prepared and held at appropriate temperatures. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and safe food-handling procedures. Properly label, date, store, and rotate food using FIFO procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation areas. Clean and sanitize cooking equipment, work surfaces, utensils, and other kitchen areas. Monitor food quality and notify the appropriate supervisor of any concerns. Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing food and kitchen supplies. Help monitor inventory and communicate supply needs to the Dining Services Supervisor. Minimize food waste while maintaining appropriate food quality and availability. Work cooperatively with waitstaff and other Dining Services team members. Provide friendly, respectful, and professional service to Coastal Landing residents. Respond appropriately to resident requests and communicate any concerns to the Dining Services Supervisor. Follow all Coastal Landing policies, procedures, and safety standards. Be willing to pick up additional shifts when available due to call-outs, vacations, or other staffing needs. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous cooking or food-service experience preferred. Experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, restaurant, or institutional food service is a plus. Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safe food-handling practices. Ability to follow recipes, menus, and written and verbal instructions. Ability to work independently and efficiently while also being a team player. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a positive attitude in a busy kitchen environment. Must be able to communicate effectively with residents and coworkers. ServSafe or other food-safety certification preferred, or willingness to obtain certification. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, reach, stoop, push, and pull as required in a commercial kitchen. Ability to lift and carry food, supplies, and kitchen equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds. Ability to safely operate standard kitchen equipment. Schedule & Compensation 24 hours per week $20.00 per hour

- Night Cook Monday: 7:00 AM-3:00 PM
- Prep Cook Additional hours available based on staffing needs, including opportunities to cover call-outs, vacations, and other employee absences.
Work Environment This position works primarily in a commercial kitchen and dining-service environment. The Cook may be exposed to heat, steam, noise, wet floors, and frequent movement throughout the kitchen and dining areas.
