Tigg's Canteen Services is currently seeking a Permanent Full-Time Lead Cook to join our team at the Genesee County Jail in Flint, Michigan. As a Lead Cook, you will play an important role in the daily operation of the kitchen. You will assist with leading and instructing kitchen staff while helping ensure meals are prepared safely, efficiently, and according to company standards and recipes. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced food service environment and is comfortable working within a structured correctional facility. What You'll Do As a Lead Cook, your responsibilities will include: Leading, instructing, and assisting inmates within the kitchen. Preparing, cooking, and baking food according to company recipes and standards. Assisting with kitchen clean-up and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Helping ensure daily food service operations run smoothly. Working effectively in a structured correctional environment. Following company policies, procedures, and food preparation guidelines.
Qualifications Successful candidates should have:
The ability to work well in a structured correctional environment. The ability to read and follow company recipes and instructions. Strong leadership and communication skills. The ability to assist with and oversee meal preparation activities. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds .
Requirements Applicants must have:
A high school diploma or equivalent. Flexibility to work weekends and holidays. Flexibility to work varying shifts and hours between 4:00 AM and 6:30 PM . The ability to obtain clearance approval to enter the facility. Previous food service or kitchen experience is a plus, but it is not required. We are willing to train the right person!
