Job Description
Purpose of Job This position is responsible for performing food service duties such as light cooking, heating and serving food and operating dishwashers. Job Functions Prepares food according to customer or patient requests following approved organization procedures. Coordinates timing of preparation in order to meet service schedules for patients and staff. Adheres to standardization of recipes and portion control to prevent food waste and control cost. Practices and adheres to safety guidelines from the State Department of Health. Washes dishes including pots and pans. Provides professional and courteous customer service to internal and external customers. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Education/Work Experience 16 years old Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Basic food and culinary terms, cooking methods pertaining to food preparation Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above Ability to complete basic mathematical problems Knowledge of modified diet food preparation Knife skills and small tool handling Ability to prioritize and multi-task Ability to work independently and in a team License/Certifications Completion of sanitation course and certification within one year of employment as cook Preferred Qualifications Previous food service experience Serv/Safe certified in food safety handling and preparation Cognitive and Mental Demands Time Awareness
