Job Description
Nordic Woods Assisted Living is looking for an experienced, dependable, and passionate Cook to join our team! We are seeking a part-time Cook, approximately 16-30 hours per week , with the flexibility to work a couple 3 hour morning shifts, and 8 to 12 hour shifts weekly. No weekends, unless coverage needed for vacations. Nordic Woods does require passing of the background check. At Nordic Woods, our kitchen is more than just a place where meals are prepared—it is part of our residents' home. Our residents enjoy seeing, talking with, and getting to know our kitchen staff. We are looking for someone who enjoys cooking, takes pride in their work, and understands the importance of creating nutritious, delicious, and comforting meals for our residents. Responsibilities Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and supper according to planned menus. Prepare home-cooked meals in a small, residential-style kitchen. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and dietary regulations. Properly store, label, and rotate food supplies. Monitor food inventory and communicate supply needs. Work closely with caregivers and other staff to meet residents' nutritional needs and dietary requirements. Collaborate with the Lead Cook to ensure timely meal service and quality food presentation. Maintain a welcoming and positive kitchen environment where residents feel comfortable interacting with staff. Follow local health department requirements and facility policies. Requirements Previous cooking or culinary experience is required. Experience preparing meals in a home-style or small-kitchen setting is strongly preferred. Comfortable cooking for approximately 20-25 residents and staff . Knowledge of food preparation techniques, food safety, and proper food handling. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with resident care staff and other members of the team. Friendly, approachable, and open-minded personality. Enjoys interacting with older adults and understands the importance of creating a positive dining experience. A genuine passion for cooking and pride in preparing quality meals. Ability to stand for extended periods and bend, squat, lift, and move throughout the kitchen as needed. Why Nordic Woods?
