Job Description
DeGraff Liquor Store - Cook Position Summary The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality food in a timely, friendly, and professional manner. The Cook will help ensure the kitchen is clean, organized, properly stocked, and operating efficiently while providing a great experience for our customers. Responsibilities Prepare and cook food according to recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards. Create and prepare daily lunch and supper specials that are appealing to customers and fit the needs of the business. Come up with new meal ideas and specials to keep the menu fresh and interesting. Prepare food for regular menu items, daily specials, events, and busy periods. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation area. Properly store, label, and rotate food and ingredients. Monitor inventory and communicate when food or kitchen supplies need to be ordered. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines. Obtain and maintain a required Food Handler's License . Properly operate and care for kitchen equipment. Keep work areas, dishes, utensils, and equipment clean throughout the shift. Work efficiently during busy periods while maintaining food quality and presentation. Provide friendly and respectful service to customers and coworkers. Assist with opening and closing kitchen duties. Help with catering, special events, and other food-related activities when needed. Complete other kitchen and restaurant duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous cooking or food service experience preferred, but willing to train the right person. Must be creative and able to independently come up with daily lunch and supper specials. Must obtain and maintain a valid Food Handler's License as required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Reliable, responsible, and hardworking. Good communication and customer service skills. Ability to follow recipes and food safety procedures. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds when necessary. Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and special events as needed.
