Job Description
Summary We are seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our food service team at Hamilton High School as an Assistant Cook. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the preparation and serving of nutritious meals for students in a dynamic school environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, a commitment to quality service, and the ability to work collaboratively with others. Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals according to established recipes and menus.
- Help with the setup and serving of food during mealtimes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas, including washing dishes and sanitizing surfaces.
- Support the Head Cook in inventory management, including receiving and storing food supplies.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in food handling and kitchen operations.
- Assist in menu planning and special event preparations as needed.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance cooking skills and food safety knowledge. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is a plus but not required.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including mornings and early afternoons on school days.
- Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check per school board policy.
