Job Description
A Prep Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and supporting chefs to ensure smooth kitchen operations. Specifically, a Prep Cook will perform the following tasks to the highest standards: Food preparation including washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring vegetables, fruits, meats, and other ingredients according to recipes and specifications. They may also prepare simple dishes, sauces, or garnishes under the supervision of chefs. Labeling, storing, and organizing ingredients to ensure they are easily accessible and comply with food safety standards. Setting up workstations according to kitchen guidelines, sanitizing surfaces, and cleaning utensils and equipment before, during, and after service. Monitoring ingredient levels, reporting shortages, and assisting with inventory counts and ordering supplies as needed. Supporting line cooks and chefs with culinary tasks, including cooking side dishes, preparing staff meals, and distributing plates to wait staff. Following health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen, and supervising food and cooling room temperatures.
