Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our culinary team at Flavor Hills' Durham location. The Prep Cook will be responsible for preparing ingredients and supporting the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient service. This role is crucial in maintaining the high standards of food quality and consistency that Flavor Hills is known for.

Key Responsibilities:

Ingredient Preparation:

Accurately prepare ingredients including chopping, slicing, dicing, and portioning based on the restaurant's recipes and specifications.

Recipe Execution:

Follow recipes to prepare components of dishes, such as sauces, marinades, and garnishes, to be used during service.

Station Setup:

Ensure all ingredients and cooking tools are ready and organized for chefs before and during service, maintaining a clean and well-stocked prep station.

Support Service:

Assist line cooks and chefs during service by providing prepped ingredients and maintaining the flow of the kitchen.

Food Safety and Sanitation:

Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, ensuring that ingredients are stored correctly and work areas are kept clean and organized.

Inventory Management:

Assist with tracking and managing inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, notifying the kitchen manager of any shortages or needs.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure that prep work is completed in a timely manner and communicate effectively to support the team during busy service periods.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Prep Cook or in a similar role in a commercial kitchen environment. Strong knowledge of food safety practices and kitchen hygiene standards. Ability to read and follow recipes accurately. Excellent knife skills and proficiency in basic kitchen techniques. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality. Effective communication skills and a positive attitude. Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
