Job Description

The Cook prepares, cooks, and bakes the food that is served for the café, tray line, and dining room following the chef's exact specifications. Working under general supervision, this role also complies with all applicable sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards and following established food production programs and procedures in order to ensure a sanitary food preparation environment.
Essential Job Function:
Calculates the necessary quantities of recipe ingredients in order to ensure that production is correct and meets basic needs and ensure that the food is attractively arranged on the plates. Follows established procedures for the storage of food, supplies, and equipment in order to comply with sanitation and safety standards. Follows standard recipes and utilizes specified preparation techniques so as to comply with diet requirements and, when needed, provide a compliant food substitution where necessary. Operates and maintains equipment in accordance with the department or manufacturers specifications so that no damage or excessive wear and tear occurs due to a failure to comply. Helps offer appropriate feedback on recipes or techniques as needed in order to identify ways to improve their taste. Performs other duties as assigned.
