Duties Assist in the preparation and presentation of meals, adhering strictly to menu plans and recipes. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including grills, braising pans, poaching tools, and food production machinery. Follow food safety sanitizing procedures diligently to ensure a hygienic environment and compliance with health regulations. Support in food handling activities such as food portioning, garnishing, and plating to enhance visual appeal. Participate in menu planning sessions, contributing ideas that align with nutritional guidelines and resident preferences. Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area through regular sanitizing of surfaces, utensils, and equipment. Assist with high-volume food production during meal times, ensuring timely service while maintaining quality standards. Support dietary department operations by managing food inventory, restocking supplies, and ensuring proper storage practices. Experience Prior experience as a dietary cook or in a similar food service role within healthcare or hospitality settings is highly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of food safety management practices and sanitizing procedures. Experience with menu planning, meal preparation, and food production techniques such as braising, grilling, poaching, and other cooking methods. Familiarity with operating commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Background in fine dining or restaurant environments is advantageous for understanding presentation standards. Proven ability to handle high-volume production while adhering to recipe specifications and safety protocols. Strong knife skills and culinary experience that support diverse food preparation tasks including catering or large-scale meal service.
