Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a strong understanding of food safety and handling practices. As the Cook, you will prepare delicious, nutritious food that helps fuel children as they explore, play and develop a lifelong love of learning. Your dedication to quality will ensure we deliver on our mission of bringing the best and most trusted early childhood education and care to the families we serve. Responsibilities Prepare and cook a variety of meals according to established recipes and dietary guidelines. Assist in menu planning, taking into consideration nutritional needs and preferences. Follow the daily menu prepared in collaboration with or by the Director. Maintain a keen awareness of children who have allergies and food restrictions. Ensure the food service area and food are free of nuts, nut products or food items that have been processed in a facility that also processes nut products. Ensure proper food handling techniques are followed at all times to maintain food safety standards. Utilize kitchen equipment safely and effectively, including knives and other cooking tools. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper storage of ingredients. Help with inventory management by monitoring stock levels of food supplies and weekly placing orders. Participate in training sessions to stay updated on best practices in food preparation and safety. Requirements Proven experience in food preparation or cooking within a school, restaurant or food service setting is preferred. Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for handling food. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent knife skills and familiarity with various cooking techniques. A passion for cooking and creating high-quality meals that meet dietary requirements.
