Overview Trombly Gardens is looking for a Prep Cook / Kitchen Assistant to support our Chef in the farm kitchen.
This role is hands-on:
you'll prep ingredients and cook items for our daily lunch menu under the Chef's direction, and bake off dough and other items the Chef has already prepared — cookies, muffins, and similar farm stand favorites — then package them for sale. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys real kitchen work, takes direction well, and wants to be part of a small, close-knit team on a working farm. Key ResponsibilitiesLunch Prep & Cooking Prepare ingredients for lunch menu items following the Chef's recipes and instructions (e.g., grab-and-go items, sandwiches, wraps, daily specials). Cook and assemble lunch menu items to order or for service, maintaining consistency and quality. Keep the prep and cook line stocked, clean, and organized during lunch service (11am-4pm). Baking & Packaging Bake off dough and items pre-prepared by the Chef (cookies, muffins, and similar baked goods) according to instructions. Package finished baked goods for the farm stand, following labeling and presentation standards. Monitor baked goods for quality and consistency, flagging any issues to the Chef. General Kitchen Support Follow the kitchen's daily production schedule and priorities as set by the Chef. Maintain food safety and sanitation standards throughout all prep, cooking, and packaging work. Keep workstations, equipment, and shared kitchen space clean and organized. Communicate proactively with the Chef about ingredient levels, timing, or any issues that could affect service. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Chef or Manager on Duty. Skills & Qualifications Comfortable following detailed instructions and recipes precisely, without needing to improvise. Basic food prep and cooking skills (knife skills, following a recipe, cooking to temperature). Ability to work efficiently in a small kitchen and manage multiple tasks during busy periods. Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working as part of a small team. Food handler certification (e.g., ServSafe) — or willingness to obtain one shortly after hire. Prior kitchen, prep cook, or line cook experience preferred but not required for the right candidate.
