Job Description

Line Cook — The Rocks All Day CaféAbout The Rocks The Rocks All Day Café is an Australian-inspired, wellness-forward specialty coffee and all-day café opening in November in Marlton, NJ. We're built on one idea, the
Equal Measure Principle:
hospitality and craft, given in equal measure, to guests and teammates alike. See the person in front of you. Meet their need — in full measure. Every plate reflects an all-day, wellness-forward menu — breakfast through lunch, made with real care and real ingredients. Every espresso is pulled on La Marzocco equipment. Every interaction reflects a brand that's elevated but approachable — never stiff, never sloppy. We're a small, founder-led team (Amanda and Anders) opening one café with the intention of building something that lasts, not just a launch. The Role As a Line Cook at The Rocks, you're the reason every plate leaving the kitchen looks and tastes exactly as it should — shift after shift, ticket after ticket. You'll work a station on our BOH team, executing our all-day menu with consistency, speed, and genuine care for the food, while keeping the kitchen running clean and organized around you. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes real pride in the craft of cooking and works well under pressure without losing precision. You'll report to our kitchen lead / chef and be part of a small opening team shaping how The Rocks kitchen runs from day one. What You'll Do Kitchen prep & execution Learn our recipes and prep standards, and execute every dish to spec — every time. Work your station with speed and precision through a rush without letting quality slip Keep an eye on consistency and presentation across every plate that leaves the kitchen Prep ingredients ahead of service so the line runs smoothly for you and everyone around you Food safety & cleanliness Keep your station and shared kitchen spaces pristine and organized through every shift — a clean kitchen is part of the craft, not an afterthought Follow food safety, storage, and sanitation standards accurately and consistently Label, rotate, and store product correctly (FIFO) to protect quality and reduce waste Team & operations Communicate clearly and proactively with the rest of the BOH team — call out what's running low, what's 86'd, what needs attention Jump in to help other stations during a rush or a slow moment — we're a small opening team and we succeed and fail as one. Know when to put your head down and focus during service, and when to keep morale up with the team What You'll Bring Required At least 1 year of line cook / back-of-house experience in a professional kitchen Solid knife skills and fundamental cooking technique across hot and cold stations Ability to work clean and stay organized under pressure during a full rush
Reliability:
you show up on time, communicate early if something changes, and can work a schedule that includes early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed Preferred Experience in a fast-casual or full-service restaurant with a scratch or made-to-order kitchen Familiarity with wellness-forward or health-conscious menus (allergen awareness, dietary modifications, fresh-ingredient handling) ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification Above all: you're smart, low-ego, upbeat, and genuinely curious about the craft. You learn quickly, adapt well to a brand-new opening team finding its rhythm, and you'd rather solve a problem than point at whose job it was. What We Offer Competitive hourly pay Hands-on training on our recipes, standards, and kitchen systems — you'll grow into our menu, not be dropped into it Real growth path: as one of our first hires, you're in line for kitchen lead and management opportunities as The Rocks grows A team that treats craft as a point of pride, not just a job to get through — you'll be trusted to bring judgment, not just follow a checklist Shift meal/Coffee while on shift How to Apply Send your resume and a couple of lines on why food and hospitality are your thing to amanda@therockscafe.com. We're building our opening team now ahead of our November training and launch in Marlton — we'd love to meet you.
