ABOUT DUTCH'S
Dutch's is a sandwich shop with locations in Montclair and Hoboken, NJ. We opened Hoboken in February 2026 and it is already our busiest store. A third location is in planning. We are not a chain and we do not run off a microwave. Every item on our menu has a written build sheet
  • the exact bread, the exact weight, the exact order it goes together in
  • and we run a new collab sandwich every single week, which is a big part of why people keep coming back.
We are also in the middle of building the systems a growing company needs: written recipes, published schedules, a real training program. If you have worked somewhere that ran on guesswork and vibes, this is the opposite of that.
WHAT YOU WOULD ACTUALLY DO
You set the day up. If prep is right, the 11am rush is easy. If it is not, nothing else saves us.
  • Early prep off a written par sheet
  • proteins, sauces, cold line, sub-recipes
  • Run the griddle through breakfast: eggs, pork roll, bacon, breakfast sandwiches
  • Portion to the build sheets. Every sauce, every protein, every time
  • Date-label everything, run the temperature log, rotate stock first-in-first-out
  • Have the line stocked and ready before the 10:30 prep deadline, because 11am is our peak hour
  • not noon
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • 1+ year of prep or breakfast cooking
  • a diner, a deli, a cafe, a catering kitchen
  • You are genuinely a morning person. This shift starts before the sun does some months
  • Knife skills and speed on a griddle
  • You can follow a written spec exactly and still move fast
  • Food handler certification, or willingness to get one (we pay)
THE SHIFT
Roughly 5:45 AM to 11:30 AM, about 26 hours a week. You are home by lunchtime. Our peak hour is 11am, not noon
  • the line has to be ready by 10:30.
HOW RAISES WORK HERE
Every raise at Dutch's is tied to a station certification. It is written down, it is the same at both stores, and it is not a favor:
  • Register / Expo
  • $17.00/hr. Day one. No experience needed.
  • Sandwich Maker
  • $19.00/hr. Certified on Cold Line & Wraps, or Cutlet & Fryer.
  • AM Prep / Breakfast
  • $19.50/hr. Certified on Breakfast plus par-sheet execution.
  • Shift Lead
  • $22.50/hr. Certified on all four stations. Keyholder. Cash-handling trained.
  • Store Manager
  • $64,000 to $68,000 a year.
You get trained on the clock, you test, you move up. Most people can reach $19.00 inside their first few months if they want it.
WHAT YOU GET
  • Paid training on every station, on the clock
  • A written raise ladder
  • certification moves you up, not seniority or who you know
  • Tips, shared across the team
  • New Jersey Earned Sick Leave (1 hour for every 30 worked)
  • Your schedule published a full week ahead, every Thursday
  • Daytime hours. We are a breakfast-and-lunch shop
  • no closing at midnight
  • Real promotion path: two stores now, a third in planning
HOW TO APPLY
Apply through Indeed. We read every application and we respond either way. If we want to talk, expect a short phone call first, then a paid working interview on the line
  • you will be paid for that time.

$19.50 per hour Expected hours: 26.0 per week
