Job Description

Position Summary The Kitchen Staff is responsible for assisting with daily food preparation, service, and cleanup while ensuring compliance with state health laws and internal food safety standards. This role helps meet the dietary needs of clients and staff by following established nutritional guidelines and kitchen protocols. The position is essential for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming food service environment for residents in care. Key Responsibilities Prepare meals daily for clients, designated staff, and others as directed by the Kitchen Manager. Follow nutritional guidelines and recipes, including accommodations for diabetics and other special dietary needs. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen areas and food service equipment. Follow safe food handling practices in line with state and agency standards. Monitor kitchen inventory and notify the Kitchen Manager when supplies need replenishment. Minimize food waste through portion control and proper food storage. Adhere to daily menu plans and recipe instructions. Follow all guidelines established by the State of New Mexico and LifeHouse policies. Lift and transport items weighing up to 50 pounds as part of regular duties. Position Requirements Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to pass a drug test upon hire and participate in random drug screenings afterward. Hold a current Food Handler's License with the State of New Mexico or obtain one within 30 days of hire. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, recipes, and health guidelines. Capacity to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen setting Familiarity with dietary accommodation and nutrition-based meal planning Experience working in a residential or behavioral health environment Bilingual in
